What is recuperative care in Los Angeles?

Recuperative care, also called medical respite, is short-term housing for people who are well enough to leave the hospital but not well enough to recover on a couch, in a shelter, or on the street. Anchor Co-Living provides it in residential co-living homes in Los Angeles County, with a furnished room, meals, and care coordination included.

These are ordinary houses on ordinary streets, and that is the point. Recovery goes better in a bedroom than in a bay.

We are not a licensed medical facility and we do not provide clinical treatment on site. Home health can visit during normal hours.

Los Angeles referral questions

We screen every Los Angeles referral in under 2 business hours and respond with a clear yes or no. When a bed is available and the plan authorization is in order, placement usually happens the same day or the next day.
No. Our homes are drug and alcohol free, and every resident agrees to that before arrival. If a member needs detox or active treatment first, we can talk through timing with the discharge planner so the referral lands when the person is ready.
Recuperative care is covered through a Medi-Cal managed care plan, so a member without Medi-Cal will not qualify for a covered stay. People who are not eligible can still apply for a room through our housing application, and we will tell you honestly if we are not the right fit.
Yes. Skilled nursing facilities, behavioral health programs, re-entry programs, county case managers, and health plan care managers all refer to us. A hospital discharge is the most common path, not the only one.
Each home has a house manager, clear house rules, and shared spaces covered by video security. Care coordination happens in the home rather than requiring the member to travel for every check in.
